2006 challenge

December 31st, 2005 at 02:10 pm

Well I am not sure if I will do one or if I have time, but I have a couple ideas I just dont think I could do them!

goodwill quilt
Actually this idea is more of a cool charity. Buy some old shirts from the good will, plus thread and batting or whatever it is called, cut and sew them into quilts, I think donating them would be cool, but you could also sell them. I know lots of shirts I donate would be perfectly good to cut out, but I have no time to sew Frown.

I gotta change a diaper, I'll put more up later.

Frugal and sick dont mix

DS is puking (the 3.5yo) no fun, expensive clean up, and hard to get clothes on the line while ferrying drinks and puke bukets!

Did I mentuon we HAVE to use cloth diapers? so extra diaper laundry, extra puked on laundry, less time, not cool!

mother of frugality

December 29th, 2005 at 05:10 pm

So we went grocery shopping yesterday:

budget = $75
actual = $55

I was thinking "great job", but ....... we forgot diapers and wipes, guess I have no choice but to go with cloth now! It might be good for us, I know when I forget food sometimes I get inventive with new recipies. Neccessity might be the mother of frugality!

Checkbook update

December 28th, 2005 at 02:43 pm

I paid bills and balanced the checkbook, corrected a few math errors and it worked out right, unfortunatly since DHs pay check didn't come yet (due the first) I paid only 100 on the CC bill, it isn't due for two weeks, meaning I could have tried to remember to pay it after the 1st but...... I don't trust myself!

I also always mark what comes out automatically early, so the mortgage and first half of the months bills are aready taken out (which is all but the car and one I forget) so tecnically we arn't doing as bad as it looks. The paycheck is auto too, but I don't mark it early. I figure Murpheys law if I do it will get 'lost' or someting when I am counting on it.

Anyway sum total in the checking act is 20$, but we have cash for grocerys, 325$ which I am hoping to make last till february.

Christmas money

December 27th, 2005 at 02:50 pm

We have a generous family, on DS's side cash is a traditional gift. We will be using the cash for groceries and putting a large amount on the CC bill this month. Smile.

For the kids loot, our youngest is getting a bond to match the other twos birth band (is what we always do with baby money, or some of it) any leftover cash will go toward getting an ing account for him, we want to wait till he has the $250 to get his bonus though. (the older two already have accounts.)

DD wants to buy some hair barretts, and DS wants to buy a bathrobe, then the rest of their money will go to the ing accounts.

DS is saving for Washington DC, DD is just saving, I figure she will use some for Washington, but she isn't to particular.

Been awhile!

I have gotten out of the habit of writing here and it shows on my finances! Or it could just be I have trouble with Christmas sacrifices more than any others.

Well my New Years resolution is to get serious again, not that we have totally fallen off the wagon, just that we are hanging on a thread!

So next month we are going whole cloth, not just diapers but everything in the house, I am banning paper! (ok keeping the toilet paper!- but thats it) I think I will start a
