dream job

July 14th, 2006 at 12:21 pm

(besides being a mom that is)

Editor of a homeschool magazine, preferably one devoted to bragging about the kids Smile. Not just my kids, but lots of homeschooled kids. Any kid.

Full of ideas about fun things to do, interesting facts, different lnks to fun or interesting websites. And photos of genious kids of course Smile.

Preferably a magazine with two sections, one by kids (as much as possible) and one by parents.

So why don't I start one? Fear. I am afraid I would be all alone in my desire. so no one would read it and no one would help write it..

That is usually the reason why so many people don't do something that they desire - Fear. I say go for it. It can only be a learning experience and you would be setting a good example for your kids. You certainly don't want them to not do the things they dream of because of Fear. And, you never know, it really could take off and be exactly what you dreamed of.

Princess...do you have any idea how many people home school now...and have little idea of what they are doing? It SOUNDS good...but it's much harder than it seems. Your ins and outs...just that you are registered as a school (wrong term?)...how to make it more than playing online all day...many parents would LOVE that!

Hmmm...how about a blog or website? Does savingadvice have a site for home schooling savings? There are LOADS of links for teachers, freebies, coupons Big Grin...and a good place to share ideas...brilliant idea!!!

an E-zine!...it would also help parents that are NOT homeschooling but want their time with their children to be educational as well as fun!

http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/home.php Here is a place to blog about homeschooling. I also have educated my children at home for years. Now, I have one entering 6th grade at a public school, but tested at an 8th grade level and one entering 9th grade, but only takes 3rd and 4th hour at the local high school this year. My 9th grader takes her other classes through the Brigham Young University and our local high school applies those credits to her transcript and will issue her - her diploma. There are actually millions of people who homeschool their children for many reasons and if you go to Yahoo groups and type in homeschooling, unschooling, etc. you will have thousands of great groups to sift through.

Hi if this is a print issue I will be your first subscriber.Homeschooling is close to my heart.Isnt it amazing how most children arent taught the basic living skills?
Tracey Mcbride I believe started with a newsletter & later published a couple of books. Frugal luxuries is her book.
I subscribed to a newsletter done in someones home called
HOME (helping ourselves means education) It was for people with small budgets trying to improve there lives with education.
It eventually folded but was in business for at least 3 years.
If you can do what you love & fill a need you have the best of both worlds. Goodluck
