Rockets

July 23rd, 2006 at 02:41 am

After the library today we went to shoot rockets with my nephew for his birthday.

We managed to get 4 launches off before we ran out of ignitors...I hope to get some more and go back next weekend, pretty cheap entertainment.

All we need is the rockets we have (Nephews was $20 for 2, plus launch pad and engines) but we alredy have ours. plus a big empty field. And that is the one use I have for public schools...they often come with nice big out of the way fields...course barring that I would have used a couple church fields..or a park. but the school is right next to my BILs house.

My DH has loved rockets since he was kid, and our kids are finally getting to the point where they're old enough to really get a charge out of them. We recently got our oldest (almost 7) an air rocket set--the thing goes almost 150' high, came with two rockets & a launch pad setup, and doesn't need SRB's and batteries to launch. Embarrassment) I think it was around $20 at Wally World. It seems like DH got a big box of replacement engines for his traditional model rockets on eBay or online somewhere for a lot cheaper than at the local hobby shop or the aforementioned big box store.

Btw, thanks for the compliment over at my site. Now, I just have to ask: you mentioned that you have one up, too. Where's a pic?
