Garage space....

March 15th, 2007 at 07:42 pm

When we moved in here oh 5 years ago, we put lots of boxes in the garage..temporarily.

That temporarily kept the car out till last year.

This year I have a goal of being able to get into the car from the garage, as of right now my husband has to weasle his way over and squeeze in, thankfully he is a slender fellow. Then he takes the car out of the garage and the rest of us get in. Now with his collection of err junk. I doubt we will ever get both doors to open fully, but I have hopes of easy walking to and from the door for him.

First up is a pile of stuff to goodwill, he sells I goodwill. Second up is cardboard...some of it he needs for his ebaying (have I mentioned the stack of boxes in my living room?) but most of it is just piled up out of maybe laziness.

Third up is a pile of garbage..ok fine he doesn't call it garbage but I do...I sincerely hope Saturday to take a large laod of stuff to the recycle center.

And then.....A free cabnet from a friend to better store some of the junk that must remain...

Now to actualy implement all that...right now I have to get off my rear and go clean a kitchen so the kids can go play wiht chalk whie I do some preliminary work.

Garages all over The USA are evidence of our affluenza. Mine is full of hazardous waste---stacks of computers and monitors that have some use, but will mostly end up being trashed. They need to go to hazardous waste disposal and my city only does those collections a couple times a year.

We live in a Cape and the garage has too much stuff to ever allow for a car. I am looking to move a lot of this stuff out soon though!Smile

This is where living in the auto theft capital of the area comes in handy - LOL. I cringe to leave a car outside so that is all that is in the garage - cars - hehe. Unfortunately we have a storage area and dh is a box hoarder though. There are some baby stuff boxes that I know we have given away the goods. Just waiting for some time to load up the van and dump boxes - yeesh. I hoarde furniture but at least it holds value - stuff I Want to use again someday. I don't get all the box hoarding myself!

I am lucky dh does not take after his father. Now there is a garage filled to the brim with junk....

    Good Luck!

Well I went out and took my one box that is to be junked and turned it into two garbage bags and a stack for paper recycling.....not sure if it was progress or not....

When we moved here the things in boxes were in the garage temporarily until we could find a place inside our home for them. It's been 2 years and STILL, we haven't "found" a place for them. Oh,we do visit it about once every 2-3 months.Smile

Hehe. I remember when my ex and I moved to our house. She had so many stuff she wanted to keep, but it all ended up staying in the garage. After 5 years, she left it all behind for me to clean out when she moved out.

Our garage is chock full of the stuff he was too tired to move into the house when we moved here in December 06. I have hopes (not high ones) of cleaning it out this summer while DS2 plays in the yard. Our car has been outside in the extreme cold all winter. I am hoping that this is the only winter that happens. The garage is very long but only one car wide. It has an extra room on the end DH wants to turn into a foundry someday. I figure we should get the car into the garage first!! This summer the roof on it must be replaced also.
