Reading addicted kids (cute, not useful)

May 15th, 2007 at 04:34 pm

Last night as we were tidying up the living room I asked my son to pick up a few things, with his nose in a book, he didn't pay any attention.

He dad told him he was a reading addict like his momma (Ok so a few minutes earlier with my nose in a book I might have ignored someone....like Daddy)

I realized this morning as I asked GMC to wind up the vacuum cleaner cord. He took the book he was reading with him, placed it on the floor, open, beside the vacuum, and continued to read while winding up the cord!

I think we may have a problem...the younger two are a bit book obsessed as well.

    Cute!

It was funny because my Big Monkey is certainly a bookworm like me, but the little one did not take to books from infanthood like him. I was worried at first but these days he constantly tosses books at us and exclaims, "A book to Read!!" It took us a while to figure out what exactly he was saying, though it was clear he was demanding that we read a lot of books. LOL. But he is most definitely a bookworm too, just a bit later start.

Great pictures. It's great when kids enjoy books so much. I am certainly glad mine share my love of reading.

When I was younger, I used to always walk around (and sometimes into) things with a book in hand. I swear I would buy a car that drove itself if it ever came out, just so I could read instead of having to drive. I bring books just about every place I go, just in case I have some spare time to read. I absolutely love it when I see my own children lost in a book - it just does not happen often enough to suit me.

Chips off the old block aren't they? I remember reading and being yelled at often because I didn't hear what was said to me. Once thye thought I was lost/kidnapped because I was reading on the front porch and didn't hear them looking for me. Wow was I ever in trouble cause they didnt' believe me.

When mine was little he used to take books with him on our daily jaunts and vacations as though they were field handbooks. Then he would get out the books and compare what he had read or seen in the book with what was in front of him in real life.

LOL. My kids are both bookworms too. But I didn't think it was ever going to happen. Both had difficulties learning but once it finally clicked they started devouring books. Other than the way they did as toddlers when they just wanted to eat them.

I used to walk home from high school reading with my best friend who also was reading. We made a really funny pair walking up the sidewalk that way.

My sister's favorite thing to say to me to get my attention when I was reading was "Put down the book and step away from the comfy chair." Her I heard. Somehow I never quite heard Mom.

DH is a bookworm, too. His online handle even has bookwyrm in it, combinging his love of books and dragons.

That's so cute. Every picture of me from when I'm little, I'm toting around a book, DH always laughs at that. There are worse addictions to have, LOL! Smile
