Too much banking?

January 24th, 2007 at 05:44 pm

Well since I put my budget on the computer with excell, and of course my checkbook, I also have my goals, and a couple 'counting chickens' pages.

and I am checking the bank account every day! sheeshe, this from a gal who used to balance the book once a month and fill in all the reciepts only because I had to write a check, (or three).

Now I am at the opposite end, I don't feel I finished online unless I take a peek to see if any bills that were pending came out, or if the latest paycheck posted. I soooo am rolling my eyes at myself!

I do the same thing. My morning routine at the computer includes a check of the bank balances, just my brick and morter and my brother's. I ignore the online accounts unless I need to do a transfer since the point of having them is to forget they're there.

Hehe, well at least I don't feel like I'm the only one. Big Grin

I used to do that too, but I'm beginning to mellow out. Nowadays, I only check roughly every other day (largely because my online credit card statment doesn't always post the accurate amount right away).

I used to check mine every morning also. I have slowed down a bit the last few weeks since I am now TRUELY following my budget - There just isn't much activity to look at when you don't spend Smile

P-Perky, I've gotten my obsessive looking down to the first five to eight days of the month because I pay all the monthly bills around the 28th or 29th of the month and then everything clears shortly and the rest of the month stays pretty quiet except for The Hubster gas-ing up his puttmobile w/the debit card.

I do however still check our investments everyday! Big Grin

Checking my cyber envelopes everyday is habit. Somedays there are transactions to drop into envelopes and sometimes not, but I think I check at least once a day. If I know I haven't spent and there are no bills cycling through I may let it slid a few days, but sometimes I think I just like to look at my envelope tree....hehehehe

Actually, with so much concern about identity theft, it is a good idea to check your accounts on a regular basis. I admit, I do it everyday as well! It only takes 5 minutes but it gives me some peace of mind.

I used to look at it every day as well.
Now, we've built up a cushion so I look at our balances and change the budget about every 3-4 weeks.
