Had a crazy night..

September 20th, 2007 at 05:38 pm

Last night after the in laws went back to the in laws. My husband and I day dreamed about buying the property next door..it is empty and according to a couple reports from the company it isn't big enough to build a big house and still be the required distance from the curb and neighboring houses.

So if we buy it we could convince them to let us combine the properties, and add on to our house...

from simply adding a 'master suite' to doubling the size of our house all dreams were considered.

And perhaps the scariest thing of all...I honestly would consider adding on a loan payment to buy the property.

But we really shouldn't..this community is about as anti libertarian as they come. Can't even try to 'naturalize' the lawn, has to be green and all that. Not to mention the clothesline restrictions.

I don't understand clothesline restrictions?! We almost bought a house in a subdivision that had them, but what's
up with that? I guess Greenhouse gasses are more pleasant to look at....

I moved out of a neighborhood that had clothesline restrictions, shed restrictions, fence restrictions and restrictions against leaving your car in the driveway. Thank goodness no one ever enforced the rules.

It wasn't even a ritzy neighborhood -- very modest, in fact. I'm all for keeping the neighborhood looking nice but that was just nuts!

Haha, yeah, I dream about home stuff as well. But yeah, if and when I ever finally get to buying a home, I'm not ever going back to the 'burbs again. High homeowner fees, unreasonable restrictions (I mean, why can't I have a gun range right in my back yard? Big Grin) and honestly? I'm tired of mowing the lawn.

believe it or not, not being able to use a clothesline at a condo if causing me to reconsider eventual sale of my house. I love my clothesline!

i think the tide is turning, though. There's actually a group in concord, NH dedicated to overturning clothesline restrictions.
