I for one will be spending my 'rebate' tax check...

Yep you heard me, every last cent of that check will be spent. I don't even know how much it will be, but I assure you it will be spent.

On this baby Smile The delivery of that is. No fancy crib, or toys, or clothes...We will be sending the entire check off to the midwife prolly right when it arrives.

So do you think I get bonus points for being a 'consumer' or doesn't it count since I am buying a service not products?

    As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter if it's a service or product. It's the same. As a matter of fact, it's being paid to an American worker rather than buying a import from another country. So, I like your plan of spending better.

    Well I plan on either saving or investing mine - if it's savings then the bank has it to loan out to others who are wanting to buy something so that's a boost to the economy and if I invest it the company/companies will be using it to research or further promote their products to other consumers so either way I don't feel too bad about socking it away.

    Unfortunately, the Government wants "you/us" to spend the money to stimulate the economy.

    I am assuming that paying a midwife doesn't constitute stimulating the economy.

    BTW, I am not saying you shouldn't pay the midwife. It is your rebate check, you are free to do whatever you want with it.

    I see stimulating the economy as making sure that workers are out there to produce products or services. If your air conditioner is broken, you're going to require a service. If your roof leaks, you're going to require a service. If the midwife has been paid by the original poster, she has more money to spend on products.

    Don't make this concept harder than what it is. It's really quite simple. The only wrong answer would be putting in under your mattress.
