So glad I homeschool

May 7th, 2008 at 04:16 pm

If I had to deal with homework on top of the sickness I don't think I could manage..plus if I were counting on an income right now we would be financially screwed!

As it is, we are doing less 'learning work' than normal, but considering all three are well advanced, less is not behind. We are also doing more silly games and quite frankly kids need more time to be 'bored' so they can use their imaginations to fill it. I don't think I leave them enough of that normally.

Course on the other hand if I were a paid to work mom with kids in day care/school, I would be getting rid of three kids and alone all day...might mean for more rest!

Though really I am lucky in spite of all my complaints I generally can take a nap every day that I want. The youngest sleeps still and the older two know that nap time is Mommy's alone time sortof.

I also homeschool my kids. The two that are still homeschooled are 13 and 16. My 16 yo is ready for college in the fall, but I think we are going to take a different approach and do some traveling/learning off and on for a year or so. Love homeschooling. I wouldn't change a thing. BTW, any chance you will be doing one of the Disney Trip's in Florida http://www.carolinahomeschooler.com/lists.htm or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fotr/message/27501 or
the Kalahari Water Park in Ohio in February 2009 http://ugoevent.com/

I wish I could homeschool... ;( I found out yesterday (less than 2 weeks left of school) that DS is failing math. I blame both him and the school. (I take some blame too). I hate that I have to work, and that we live 30 minutes from my job. Eats up a lot of time, and I feel really guilty.

I hope you get some rest soon! Big Grin

Well I didn't mean to make anyone feel bad...as an option have you looked around for local homeschoolers that might be willing to share the teaching of your son? you might find one willing to work with him while you are at work...though not all homeschooling parents are any good at math.

Camp, no not planning on a Disney trip, though I will look into the water park in February..will have a less than one year old, but we shall see. (I always say pre walking is easier than walkers anyway!)

What I liked were those days when I was the sick one. Not having to get out to drop off & pick up were wonderful. My boys soon learned to play quitely and let me rest. They also learned how to be servant minded in taking care of puky ol'Mom.
