Going to buy my son his first beer this week

This is an exciting time in my sons life. He has discovered beer. And requested we buy him some to try.

I follow the theory that my kids are better off expiramenting at home while I am there to watch, rather than secreting it away.

So we shall buy some this week and see what happens. I expect a bit of a mess, but I am sure he will enjoy the fun. I might save it for Thursday or Friday when we will have several of his friends over and make it a party.

    I am glad it is a joke!

    the only time ,my oldest son got in trouble he was at a friends house with friends mom who bought them beer! son was 17 and she did not want them drinking elsewhere so she was sweet and bought them beer,well i turned that bi### in to the police and got her arrested, I hate that my kids friends have trashy parents,since then everybody comes to my house ;-) and boohoo no one gets beer ;-)

    the first time i drank alcohol i was probably 14 - my parents found out and said they would rather me drink in their company than not - so from then on it wasn't an issue and i hardly ever drink - it's not exciting or anything but the one thing i learnt was how to handle myself properly - most young adults when they aren't allowed to drink don't learn that for years.

    oh and the drinking age is 18 here.

    I remember having my first taste of beer at a friend's party when I was maybe 16. I came home & told my mom that I tried it but didn't like it. I meant it then, but that didn't stop me from acquiring a taste for it by the time I went to college!

    P.S. I don't think my mom was too crazy about my friend's mother (a neighbor) after that.

    whitestrip my mom let us drink and smoke at the house at the time it was cool, as a parent I can see it was just poor parenting ;-)

    but as long as those parents only give substances to their own kids i do not care just do not give my kids any or i will get their a$$ locked up !

    I'm close to 50 and still have never tried beer.....

    I did go to high school with a friend whose parents were both alcoholics and supplied their kids with cigs and booze. Both parents died before age 50, and 2 of the kids don't touch the stuff. The other two are alcoholics and one got in trouble and put out of highschool for being drunk at school. Of the 2 who drink, one can't keep a job and the other has been in and out of jail.

    I've never even been interested in drinking. One time I was on a date and we went to this nightclub (my first time ever in one) and a guy came around sellng jello. My date asked me if I wanted one, and I said sure, I like jello. Doh. One bite later and I found out just how naive I was (at 20 years old!)
