Goals day 14 ,15 and thoughts

January 15th, 2007 at 06:13 pm

new bought nothing spent at all
isoyesterday yes, today, working now.
veggiesbarely made it yesterday, had a snack of craisins (with chocolate) at bedtime so I wouldn't fail, today I had one with breakfast, one with lunch and fully expect to have one with dinner so I'll tentativly say yes.

I am finding the iso easier, and thinking of what I can add next month, thing is I am a 'do it now' 'add it all on, kindof person, 100 iso excersizes is easy, so why not do more? but well if I do more on my 'must' list then on days when I am tired, busy, ect, there is more I feel I have to do, and then I feel I can't succeed so I wont even do my 100!

Like the guy with the rocks, he was insulted at being asked to guard a pass and drop a measly 10 lb rock on all passerbys. he boasted he could lift 50, or 100 or whatever easy, in the course of the boasting/showing off he threw out his back and the enemy wandered in with not even the 10lb rock on his head..so I am trying not to bite off more than I can easily do. Or maybe I am just lazy Smile

old fitness goal

June 29th, 2006 at 12:56 pm

So awhile ago I tried to concentrate on fitness for amonth. it didn't work to well. I could list the excuses but I already spent the entire month doing that!

I pretty much go to the pool everyday, and you might think that is useful, but it isn't. I mainly hold UE while the other two play. (BTW did I mention GMC can swim the whole 25 meter length of the pool?-dogpaddle) sure I bounce UE or swing him around, but it just doesn't equal a daily 1/2 mile walk.

So I need to find more time, I need to MAKE time for me to work out other than the pool. I am debating on before the pool or after.

I already wont go to the pool till I have dishes, laundry and breakfast taken care of, but that is mainly for the kids..I mean I do most of the work, but it helps them know what we have to get done. Most days that is not to hard and we get out the door on time (pool opens at 10) so adding something to the work sounds semi reasonable, but then it might take longer.

I dunno, maybe I am just to busy making excuses to get out of toning the abs!

Working out

March 23rd, 2006 at 07:04 pm

Well I have been doing so well at walking I am goiing to actually do the strength stuff this week... I think. After all that was part of the plan in the begining but I failed, so I reevaluated my goals (meaning I lowered my expectations!)

Anyway after 5 weeks I have burned a total of : 03259 calories in only 839 minutes.

But more importantly.....
I lost an inch on each thigh!

So why is this on a finance blog? It is all free! I signed up for the Self.com challenge, no cost, free tracker.

I walk, no cost, free.

I have a gift subscription to Self magazine with free strength workouts.

So why no weight total? I have no scale, never owned one, I lived with one at my mothers oh so long ago, but I do not own one.

So why no new waistline loss? Err not sure, prolly cause I have not been targeting my abs, and I have not changed my eating habits, something I really need to work on.

March Fitness

March 16th, 2006 at 02:21 pm

So far in the month of March, according to Self.com, I have done alot of working out!

Week 3:
Total cardio minutes: 215
Total strength minutes: 40

Week 2:
Total cardio minutes: 150
Total strength minutes: 20

Week 1:
Total cardio minutes: 90
Total strength minutes: 25

And more important to me I lost 1.5 inches from my waistline!

Not My waistline (I am a girl) but more fun to look at for me!

working on working out

March 9th, 2006 at 01:54 pm

So far this Months working out challenge has been a frugal success, apparently if you just do it it works! I am a 'perfectionist' not as in I do it all right, but that if I don't do it perfect I want to give up and avoid it.

Well Self.com has some strength training moves, written out, I am terrible at following workout directions written out. But I did it, I just tried to figure them out for 20 minutes, and I surrvived! Judging by mild pain and desire to rest the following day I think I did some good! I have done it three times now, and while I still don't think I am doing it perfectly, but I seem to be getting more definition in my waistline, so it must be doing something!

I also have the misconception that a mini walk is a waste of time, which is silly with all the reports on how any excercise is beter than none, so this week even if I can only get out for 15 minutes (20 if you count coat s on time for 3 little ones!) I am doing it! I did it once already this week (the other days we had time for 30 minutes or more) It was a bit cold and we had to spend more time bundleing up than at the playground, but we did it, and I burned (according to self.com) I think 75 calories. Hey thats 75 more than nothing!

My pants dont fit!!!!

March 1st, 2006 at 10:50 pm

This is a good thing, I don't want them to fit, and they don't, only 1 week of half hearted effort and already they don't fit, that is awesome, I love it, I really am looking forward to the next few weeks in hopes of more good news (maybe more pants that don't fit!)

Oh and I have great news, spring is here in NC!!!! I went for a walk this morning, wonderful weather, I have windows open right now! I love NC!!!! (well talk to me again in August, but I love it now!)

Oops

February 28th, 2006 at 01:34 pm

So I really want to workout, and get my prepregnancy size back, but....err.... well.... I don't have any church clothes that will fit if I do! I realized this as a I got ready Sunday, I honestly have no smaller skirts for church!

Though on an up note I did find, already, my current skirt was loose, that means one week of halfhearted work is paying off!

I think it may be anti frugal, but when I am down I will buy a new skirt! One that is the proper length. I really don't like mid calf, I feel frumpy, so for church I think long and flowing, but fitted waist. Heh, kindof fun to dream, and I prolly should start looking now, I can be rather picky, so it could take awhile to find something!

Kids as dumbells

February 27th, 2006 at 02:17 pm

Not as in Stupid (they are quite smart) but as in actually using them as weights. I was lifting my youngest in 'baby presses' the other night, and I thought for fun I would continue with some other mini workouts. IT sent all three into giggle fits, but I managed to burn a few calories, and more interestingly to me, in just 10 minutes I was soreish the next day!

Not enough to regret it, just enough to think progresss will be made on the waistline. Children may be the most frugal workout, and alot more fun than any other form IMO!

I also did 'baby curls' 'baby kisses' (like crunches but to kiss a kids head. Lots of 'kid lifts' (requires balance on the kids part, sitting on the sides or tops of my legs) and some old fashioned wiggles, wiggle the legs with them on top and watch the hair floof and the giggles emmerge!

Then I also tried 'zooming' them in a basket, bit of an arm workout and managed to get my heart rate pumped up, I just added my 4 month old when I needed to 'cool down' (can't zoom him quite as fast!)

I need to move that money!

February 24th, 2006 at 01:57 pm

I know I said this before, but It hasn't moved and I went and splurged! Well we did. I needed eggs to make brownies, so I suggested to DH we go to the store a day early, no big deal, or to much money, except we had to have dinner out before shopping! to the tune of 50$! what was I thinking! I know it is there and I wanted to splurge.

Then we went shopping I dunno how much yet, and we still have to get some things! Really I HAVE got to move that money!

On a plus note it gave me great satisfaction to buy the wipes at a1$ more a box, just because I had no CC debt, and I like unscented better. (why does it cost more to get unscented?)

So do you suppoise walking around carrying a 17lb baby counts as excersise for Thursday? I hope so cause it was all I got!

Can I go back to bed please?

February 15th, 2006 at 11:36 am

The cold I have had for a week is turning into an ear infection. The drilling pain thru my brain about drove my crazy last night. So I decided I do NOT want to wake up early today, DD had other plans...

DH got his 'end of year bonus' which comes at the begining of the year, and we decided to buy a new mattress with some then put the rest torwarnd the house. I am soooo happy, I really am looking forward to a bed I do not hate! My husband was going to suprise me with a bed for my birthdya, but I messed that up by asking for it early. Well that and asking him to build me a bench for my birthday.

Workout a Wash

February 14th, 2006 at 01:35 pm

I did get up, but I got sidetracked by a wonderful Valentine poem on the fridge. Then my son wanted me.

I did some toning exercises on the floor while talking to him, but he wanted milk and sleep so I gave up after not quite 10 minutes.

I guess I will try again tomorrow.

Bettter body = more money spent!

February 13th, 2006 at 12:20 pm

I find in my life that trying to improve one area always affects another. Now I know that healthier is cheaper, less sick time. But in the short term it is more expensive. I decided to try to work out more, but it is too cold for me outside!

I know, I know, move you'll warm up. but umm, I don't wanna! or more precisly (and more excuse worthy) my kids don't want to. Wind irritates my Daughter tremendously, and quite frankly I don't blame her.

It is all well and good to prod yourself and three kids out the door for their benifit, to see the happy faces watching construction, or playing at the slides, but to hear them whine about the cold? I'll pass.

So should I go alone before or after they are awake? Err yuck! I tryed it for a time, after the kids were all abed, but I discovered cold in the middle of the day is WORSE at night. I knew that, but now I Really know it! Plus my 3 month old hardly ever goes to sleep at the same time, so I never know just how late I am stuck staying up.

This week my goal is to get up early, and work out before anyone else is up. I awoke today at 5am, all prepped, I actually dragged myself out of bed, then I thought about the cold outside and almost jumped right back in! But I persevered, and popped in a workout tape!

So why is this more money? Well the little things like electricity is one thing, lights were on (I do not want to work out in the dark!) and of course, some to run the TV/VCR, plus....food.

Yep food. I can't diet. (that is a dirty word, the truth is I don't like to diet, had my fill in highschool) My excuse, is my nursing 3 month old, I have to eat to feed him. So a banana for pre-workout, a bowl of cheereos for breakfast, and I am off to a start of a full day of food. So a better body is just one more reason why our grocery budget is not shrinking like it should.

Walking

April 6th, 2005 at 01:26 pm

Well DD made it the better part of a mile, pure guestimate on that mile, I know it is 1/4 mile to neighbors and we went past that cross the bigger road and back into the community for a walk least the distance of her house (prolly more). Anyway I figure I'll borrow a pedometer or whatever those things to measure that sort of thing eventually, before I try to get htem to wak all the way to the park. actually DS made it with no troubles and so did I rather happy with that.)

Unfortunatly we have to spend money today we have to get some food, and extra food for Sundays birthday part, still no idea what to cook. We also have to spend loot on a bday present, I don't want to get him much but all we have is a clock, he will like it, but it isn't quite cool enough for a whole birthday. Oh and we made him a treasure map, we have to put some sort of treasure at the X.

Walk

April 5th, 2005 at 12:37 pm

So I mentioned the horse to DH he says I am silly Smile prolly am. I also took the kids outside for a looong walk. Step one in seeing if I can get DS and DD to walk 2 minles to the playground. WE have on e in our community, but 2 miles away is a big one with swings and coolest of all a nature center that DS has been bugging me to go back too, small center ust a few things for the kids to do, but a comfy couch and some books we don't own, and a definate change of scenery, oh and a big bird garden outside (least thats what I would call it)

Neighbor birthday

February 27th, 2005 at 02:44 pm

I noticed yesterday that my neighbor and friends echo my no money comments, but they have all kinds of stuff? I guess it could be that the stuff is comming in by cc, but I just find it weird.

It was his bday party, I gave him the fudge, relativly cheap and I was going to get him some for taking some stuff to good will anyway.

When it was time for dinner, (I had brought some stuff the kids and I could have if we needed), they asked what we wanted for dinner, One dude, with a new convertable said "anything cheap and fast, I am hungry and have no money" I of course seconded that one and the other two guys did as well. Very odd to me. I know that they were nice enough to buy the pizza without asking for loot from us, I just think it is odd that NO ONE had money!

Frugal Fun

January 29th, 2005 at 02:07 pm

Truthfully I am more on a quest to entertain my family after dinner, without the net, which is so impersonal. I love being able to do my thing while DH does his, but not while the kids are up. We did the Charades thing and the reverse pictionary (charades went over better) and last night we got all the little funky workout stuff and let the kids play (did a little ab work too). The kids thout it was ok, my waist today thinks it was to much work! but work is good, if I can keep this up a couple times a week, I should get my waistline back down that last 1/2 inch (or more!)
